The Birthstone Book Tag

Hello all and happy Monday! This tag was created by Jay G and I found it on the Book Tag Index. I know that I usually don’t post anything on Mondays but I thought I’d do this tag today since it’s my birthday. So, without further adieu, let’s get started!

January (GARNET): Associated with warding off negative forces and dark energies – Name a book with the darkest/evilest character you can think of.  Randall Flagg was one of the most evil characters I’ve ever read!

February (AMETHYST): Purple is associated with royalty – Name a book with regal qualities… You can base this off of characters, or choose the King of all books.    The language in this book gives it it’s regal qualities and it’s such a beautiful read (not to mention a beautiful book with maroon sprayed page edges and that amazing cover)!

March (AQUAMARINE): Washed out – Name a ‘wishy-washy’ character, a character who is not strong or a follower.  Okay, I’m going to start off by saying that I absolutely LOVE Twilight (both the books and the movie) and I’m not ashamed to say that I’m complete trash for the series, but I do have to admit that Bella Swan is a pretty weak character. (I’m sorry to all of my fellow Twilight fans!)

April (DIAMOND): A diamond in the rough – Name a book that you loved but is not well known.   I feel like not many people know about this book (correct me if I’m wrong) but it’s a wonderful book that I loved sooo much! I’ve already vomited my fair share of thoughts on this book in a previous post but I chose it for April because it’s one of my favorite books and it’s my birth month (and y’all should really try it out, it’s amazing)!

May (EMERALD): Said to balance energy – Name two characters who balance each other well.  I think Kaz and Inej are the perfect balance for each other (and the perfect couple)!

June (PEARL): Associated with loyalty – Name a character who is loyal to the end.   Yep, that’s right y’all, Finnick Odair, a.k.a. my love, my life, my soul! This man is…was…loyal to the cause and to Katniss…*sobs* to the end!

July (RUBY): Blood red – Name a book that made your blood boil, one that made you angry.   Just to clarify, this book (technically) did not anger me, the amazing and accurate description of the racism and prejudice of the time period is what angered me.

August (PERIDOT): Pale green (it pales in comparison to other gems) – Name a supporting character who you like better than the main character.   I doubt I’m the only one who likes Hermione better than Harry but there you go. Hermione is my home girl!

September (SAPPHIRE): Blue like the ocean which is calming – Name a book that had a calming affect on you.   I fall in love with the language and the story and the romance of this beautiful classic every time I read it!

October (OPAL): Iridescent – Name an iridescent book, this can be a book with a beautiful cover (Shiny? Lots of colour?) or you can base it off of a character (Quirky? Colourful?).    I LOVE this edition of Les Miserables from Barnes and Noble. It’s one of the most beautiful books I own!

November (TOPAZ): Associated with resilience – Name a book with a character who rises to the top in a time of adversity.     Though this book is a memoir it is classified as fiction and boy oh boy is there some adversity that is overcome in this book!

December (BLUE ZIRCON): Associated with friendship – Name a book with a friendship you want to be apart of.    The Percy Jackson gang is so cute! Honestly their friend group is complete goals!
