Underrated Female Heroes Book Tag

Hello all and happy Thursday! I was tagged by the fabulous Michaela from her blog, Journey Into Books to do this tag. So, without further adieu, let’s get started.

Guidelines:

  • Pingback to the creator of this tag at Kate @ Melting Pots and Other Calamities.
  • Answer the questions.
  • Choose female characters from books, movies, TV, anime, Webtoons, etc.
  • Tag as many people as you want, but at least one person.
  • Have fun!

NAME A HEROINE YOU LIKE, BUT WHOM YOU FEEL IS ALWAYS OVERSHADOWED BY THE MALE CHARACTERS IN THE STORY

I LOVE Clary from Cassandra Clare’s Mortal Instruments series but I often feel like the focus is on a lot of her fellow Shadowhunters (mostly men) instead of her at some points.

FOR THAT MATTER, NAME A HEROINE WHOM YOU FEEL IS ALWAYS OVERSHADOWED BY THE OTHER FEMALE CHARACTERS IN THE STORY

I feel like Ashyn is often overshadowed mostly by her twin sister, Moria.

NAME A CHARACTER WHO HAD POTENTIAL BUT WAS GREATLY UNDERUTILIZED IN HER STORY

Lena Duchannes is one of the most disappointing characters I’ve ever read! I ended up watching the movie before reading the series and I fell in love with the Ethan and Lena from the movie, however, the book Lena was completely lack luster. Her character had so much potential to be great, like in the movie, but she was a very flat and quite underutilized character.

NAME A FEMALE CHARACTER WHO YOU EITHER FIND BETTER IN HER BOOK THAN HER MOVIE, FIND BETTER IN HER MOVIE THAN HER BOOK, OR WHOSE PORTRAYALS YOU FIND EQUAL

I think Emilia Clarke did an absolutely phenomenal job bringing Lou to life on the screen. I felt that the character was equal both in the movie and the book.

NAME A CHARACTER WHO YOU WANT MORE BACKSTORY ON

I loved Alice’s character, and I feel like we got a pretty good backstory for most of the Cullen vampires, but I would’ve wanted to know a lot more about Alice.

NAME A CHARACTER WITH TRAITS YOU FEEL ARE SADLY OVERLOOKED BY EVERYONE

Dru never ever gets a chance at being the Shadowhunter she is and is always tasked with babysitting the youngest of the Blackthorn children, Tavvy. That is so unfair on so many levels! She’s a smart young Shadowhunter, I’m sure that she could contribute plenty to the team, if given the opportunity.

NAME A MORALLY GREY CHARACTER. (VILLAIN OR ANTI HERO!)

Nor, the villain of Zenith, has pretty good motives in my opinion. Her entire planet was taken over and destroyed and she was left with only remnants of her home and terrible memories so, I can see how doing the same to her enemies as payback can be kind of a grey area (being honest, they deserve it).

NAME A CHARACTER YOU’RE STUNNED ISN’T MORE FAMOUS

Chloe is a phenomenal character! I love supernatural things and I was happily surprised when I read this trilogy and met a strong female protagonist who was a necromancer fighting against a government agency that created her and her friends but now wants to destroy them. I mean, if that doesn’t get your attention, what will?

NAME A CHARACTER FROM A PIECE OF FICTION YOU’RE AMAZED ISN’T MORE FAMOUS

I have always said that Strange Sweet Song is one of my all time favorite books because it’s just so unique and different (not to mention, I don’t read many standalones that I genuinely enjoy). Sing, the main character, is a gifted soprano who enrolls in this elite school for the musically gifted but lots of strange and mysterious things begin to happen while she’s at the remote, enchanting school. Again, I think that this book is definitely worth reading for anyone who enjoys beautiful, mysterious, intrigue (and awesome musical references).
