One Year Blogiversary!!

Hello all and happy Thursday! I can’t believe it y’all, it’s already been a year since I started this blog back in January of 2018. I’m so grateful to you all whom I cherish with my whole heart. Y’all readers, fellow bloggers, writers mean the absolute world to me and I’d like to thank all of you for sticking by me through some difficult things as well as some fun (usually) bookish content. Today, I thought that I’d share with y’all some things that I’ve learned in this past year of blogging and talk a bit about my experiences with the blogging community.

One of the biggest things that has taken a while for me to learn when it comes to blogging is that you get unlimited freedom pretty much. We don’t write for others, but for ourselves, and to try to bend over backwards to please everyone is not only unattainable but unnecessarily stressful as well. No matter what you write, when you write, and how you go about writing, there will always be an audience of readers who are into what you are putting out. So being overly people pleasing and, at times, somewhat self deprecating, is something I plan on leaving behind in 2018. Moving forward I will, of course, still try to entertain and connect with y’all readers as much as I can but I refuse to stress about what effect every word I write will have on everyone who reads this. I will continue to just be myself and see if anyone likes that. Essentially, doing one’s best should be the main concern for any blogger and whether or not their content makes themselves happy.

I’ve learned tremendous ways to communicate and connect with my fellow human beings thanks to this platform and interacting with wonderful people in this blogging community. Not saying that I wasn’t social before I began this little project of mine, but I certainly was more on the reserved “don’t talk to me please” side of the spectrum. Now, I’d like to think that I am the sort of person that others feel comfortable with conversing with, confiding in, joking with, and befriending (even if it is just an online connection with strangers, I still consider y’all my friends). With so many kind folks in this community who support one another, it’s really easy to break out of one’s shell and blossom into a more confident person. Without getting too sappy, I’ll just say that I am very thankful to those y’all blogging buddies who have remained my supporters from the beginning (y’all know who you are). I love every single one of y’all beautiful humans!

Though I have taken many breaks and have been in dark places in my life personally, I always come back to this safe space to share as much content as I possibly can. I do this because I feel like blogging has become a sort of ventilation system for me to release my thoughts and emotions that would otherwise just remain pent up within my mind. Blogging, I never would have thought, is amazingly therapeutic. Even if I usually don’t discuss super heavy stuff on here and like to keep my content light and upbeat, just by writing out words that others actually take the time to read and digest makes me feel lighter inside, almost like I’ve just spilled all my secrets though all I’m really talking about is a book or author or myth or whatever else mundane topic comes to mind. Without even realizing, this blog has helped me with my life and managing my stress (though, I won’t lie, sometimes I have to take a break in order for this space to not also become an added stress).

It’s hard to believe that it’s already been a year and yet it feels like no time has passed at all. I’m still a somewhat incompetent blogger (lol) and I respect, admire, and aspire to create an even greater blog like so many of the ones I follow in this community, but I’m content for now just knowing that I didn’t give up, I kept on with this wonderful project. I hope to improve my blog and my blogging style in the future and hope for another great year of blogging in this new 2019 year. Thanks again to all of y’all readers and fellow bloggers, I love y’all very much and have a wonderful rest of your day!584437d4a6515b1e0ad75b69Thanks so much for reading y’all! Let me know anything you’d like to say in the comments below, you know I love hearing from y’all!

Just a reminder, I put out new content every Tuesday and Thursday and occasionally on Surprise Saturdays and Who Knows Sundays where I post content if I have time and feel like doing so.
